We offer private guided walks, trekking, hillwalking, hikes and walking tours in Connemara, Co Galway, Co Mayo and along the route of the Wild Atlantic Way in the West of Ireland. These are provided by Paul Phelan, a qualified mountain leader and experienced local walking guide and author of the popular “Connemara and Mayo - a Walking Guide” guide book with over 30 walks and hikes. 

Exclusive Private Guiding

We offer exclusive private guiding for groups (large or small) on customised full-day, half-day or multi-day walks, hikes and tours. Our priority is your safety: once your group is safe our goal is your enjoyment and experience. Unfortunately, we are no longer offering scheduled group walks on particular days, for individuals to join. 

The guiding can be walking only, or can include transport (cars, coach, bus, ferries) in Connemara, Mayo and along the West Coast of Ireland. Private guiding ensures that you - or your group - get exactly what you want, optimised for the weather conditions, and will not be joined by anybody else  

• A full-day is currently €250 for up to 8 hours, in the area around Clifden, Leenane, Roundstone, Cong. The maximum group size for one guide depends on the hike: mountain hikes are limited to 5 persons with one guide, whereas hill walks (e.g. Errisbeg Loop) can work with up to 8 persons, and up to 12 persons could be possible with one guide on some low level trail hikes. We can guide larger groups with additional guides at €250 per guide.  
• The cost for a half-day private customised hike starts at €160 (for shorter walks near Clifden), through €180 (for walks near Roundstone, Lough Inagh & Leenaun) up to €200 for walks far from Clifden (e.g. Cong). The maximum number of people, for safety, ranges from 6 on hills (e.g. Errisbeg) up to 14 on the coast (Omey, Mannin). Larger groups can be safely guided with additional guides at the same daily rate per guide. 

You can choose the starting time of your exclusive walk, subject to availability. You will need to have suitable footwear and outdoor clothing for your selected walk: we will advise you and can help make sure you have the right gear for the walk and the weather conditions.
